How Did It Start?

I created Power Pumps to solve my own problem. When I was working at Facebook, I was hustling like nobody's business. Despite working at a social media platform that everyone uses to stay updated, I was as updated as a flip phone 📟. I was unaware of any cool new trends, always catching on when it was practically retro 📼. I needed to claw my way back into the cool kids’ corner. But my two biggest issues were lack of time and no idea where to look 🤷🏻‍♀️

I subscribed to all sorts of women's magazines and newsletters, but they only served up endless beauty tips 🫦. Yes, a great eyeliner is crucial, but my needs were more diverse. I wanted to know about the latest tech and gadgets too. But the tech scene seemed like a boys' club. This baffled me 🤯. Women are bosses, managers, they use COMPUTERS (!), and they fancy the latest in tech just as much as the trendiest nail polish.

Someone needed to combine it all. So I did it. 🤰🏻I birthed Power Pumps—a curated selection of everything a boss lady needs—from chic lipsticks to badass software. And I keep it short because we ain't got time.

Who Am I?

Hey there, I’m Malvika! 🎉 Right now, I’m the brains behind several nifty little businesses, including this very newsletter.

Before stepping into the entrepreneurial ring, I was all about making films and ads. Curious about my work? Take a peek here.

How did I tumble from the ivy-clad walls of Wharton into the dusty sets of film production? Well, as my classmates suited up for gigs in consulting and finance 👔, I was bitten by a cinematic bug that just wouldn’t quit! So I I packed my bags and joined an indie film crew heading out to shoot a Western in Tucson, Arizona. The wild, wild west, indeed! 🌵 🤠

Armed with a new title of PA (basically the crew's errand ninja), I darted around under Tucson’s scorching sun, fetching water, snacks, and running all the whimsical errands you can imagine. My reward? An up-close, dusty education in the art of movie magic. Spoiler: I totally fell in love with it, and to this day, it remains one of my most memorable moments.

Post-indie adventure, I became the head of production at a VR studio, and later, I was crafting ads at Facebook, surrounded by some fantastic folks.

Now, I'm back where it all started, living in Tucson—the magical place that turned my dreams into reality. Here’s to the magic of chasing what you love! 🎬🏜️
